The Biggest Stars In Country Music Gather For The 59th Annual CMA Awards

On Wednesday, November 19th, singers, songwriters, producers, fans, and more gathered at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena to celebrate the 59th annual CMA Awards. Regarded as “country music’s biggest night,” the evening was marked by big wins, exciting performances, and touching tributes.

More than 6,000 industry professionals who are members of the Country Music Association (CMA) determine winners for each award category. The CMA was established in 1958 and became the “first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music.”

Five Talented Bands Compete For The Title Of Vocal Group Of The Year

The nominees for the 2025 CMA Vocal Group of the Year included Lady A, Little Big Town, Old Dominion, Rascal Flatts, and The Red Clay Strays. This award category is one that tends to have repeat winners and consequently, every winner from the last 22 years is represented in the current group of nominees.

Old Dominion has won the award for the last seven consecutive years from 2018 – 2024. With last year’s victory, they established the record for most consecuitive wins in the category. Little Big Town took home the award for six years straight before that, from 2012 – 2017.

While Lady A has been nominated for Vocal Group of the Year every year since 2008, they have not taken home the trophy since 2011, the end of a three-peat which began in 2009. Prior to that, Rascal Flatts reigned from 2003 – 2008.

Should The Red Clay Strays win the award this year, it would be their first win in the category and would break Old Dominion’s record-breaking streak.

The Winner Of CMA Vocal Group Of The Year Is…

Jordan Davis and Lauren Daigle, hosts of the upcoming CMA Country Christmas special, took the CMA stage to reveal that the 2025 winner for Vocal Group of the Year is… The Red Clay Strays! This is their first win in the category. With it, they have broken Old Dominion’s seven-year winning streak.

While accepting the award, lead singer Brandon Coleman said:

“Always believe you can do it. Work hard, and trust God.”

Congratulations to The Red Clay Strays for winning CMA Vocal Group of the Year! Check back to watch their acceptance speech.
