The 58th annual CMA Awards celebrated the best and brightest in country music
On Wednesday, November 20th, Music City gathered at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena to celebrate country music’s achievements over the last year.
Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning hosted the 58th annual CMA Awards, considered “country music’s biggest night.” They were joined by Lainey Wilson, the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year.
More than 6,000 industry professionals who are members of the Country Music Association (CMA) determine winners for each award category. The CMA was established in 1958 and became the “first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music.”
The Oak Ridge Boys announced the winner of this year’s CMA Vocal Group of the Year award. Beloved band member Joe Bonsall, who passed away earlier this year, was notably absent from the group.
The 2024 nominees for CMA Vocal Group of the Year were…
Lady A
Lady A is a six-time CMA Award winner, three of which being for Vocal Group of the Year. However, despite more than a dozen nominations, they have not taken home a CMA trophy since 2011. Will this be the year their luck changes?
Little Big Town
Little Big Town earned nine CMA awards between 2012 and 2018. Earlier this year, they delighted fans with the surprise announcement of their Greatest Hits album during CMA Fest. The album was released in July to celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary.
Old Dominion
Old Dominion is the reigning CMA Vocal Group of the Year winner, having won the award for an astounding six consecutive years! Much of the group’s success can be credited to their ability to appeal to listeners across genres.
The Red Clay Strays
The Red Clay Strays would be considered the group’s rookies, being newer in their music careers than their fellow nominees. However, they have quickly gained a large fan base and, consequently, have earned their format CMA Awards nomination.
Zac Brown Band
Zac Brown Bank took home their first and only CMA Award in 2010 for New Artist of the Year. At the 2023 ceremony, the band joined forces with Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, and Mac McAnally to perform a touching tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett.

And the winner is… Old Dominion!
Old Dominion makes history and takes home the CMA award for Vocal Group of the Year for the seventh consecutive year!
The group graciously accepted the award and expressed disbelief that their music career had grown to such heights. They thanked their fans, family, and everyone who has come alongside them during their journey.
Congratulations, Old Dominion!
