Jimmy Fallon and Nicole Kidman sat down in 2015 to discuss the Australian actress’ soon to be released film, Paddington. However, the interview took an awkward turn when the talkshow host brought up the first time they met over a decade prior, Fallon and Kidman having two very different versions of their “hang.”
“I just remember I liked you,” said Kidman about their awkward first encounter to a shocked Fallon. “Not now! I’m married now.”
“What are you talking about?! Did I date Nicole Kidman?” replied Fallon to Kidman’s shocking story.
The interview went on to become one of the talkshow host’s most watched video’s on YouTube and a lasting joke between the pair, having a second interview the following year, Kidman bringing along husband Keith Urban as backup. Keeping the awkward joke alive, best friend to Kidman, Naomi Watts, met up with the host to once again discuss the couple that never was.
“So how’s our pal Nicole Kidman? How’s she doing?” asked Fallon coyly.
“Your ex-crush, right? I mean I know, I’ve heard,” said Watts between laughs, before continuing, “Well she said some nice things about you but I know you guys are all happily married and everything now, so I don’t want to say anything.”
The actress also went on to reveal that had she known about it all back then, she could have been his “wing man,” revealing she and Kidman have been friends for decades.
