The Noted Cowboys Fan Will Make Things “Rowdy” At The Thanksgiving Game

“Always goin’ for it, never punt fourth down. Last call, Hail Mary, Prescott touchdown, ayy.”

On Thanksgiving, many American families will have members saying, “Wow,” as they take that first bite of the bird at Thanksgiving dinner.

Afterward, they may see “Wow,” by Post Malone, performed at the halftime show for the customary Thanksgiving football game between “America’s Team,” aka the Dallas Cowboys; and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Following weeks of speculation, Post Malone’s status as the headliner of the salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff halftime show was confirmed on Sunday, November 16.

Post Malone’s Upcoming Thanksgiving Performance

At 3:30 p.m. CT on November 27, the Dallas Cowboys will play against the Kansas City Chiefs at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game will be broadcast on CBS, with the halftime show ushering in the official launch of The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.

While the Thanksgiving matchup between the Cowboys and the Chiefs goes back to 1966, with the two competing every year except 1975 and 1977, the Red Kettle Campaign’s kickoff being linked to the game goes back 29 years.

According to a press release, this game’s halftime show “puts a national spotlight on the urgent needs of millions during the holiday season and all year long, adding that it “issues a rallying cry to donate to The Salvation Army’s work in communities nationwide.”

This year, Post Malone will be performing, and he follows in the footsteps of the 2024 performer, Lainey Wilson; and the 2023 performer, Dolly Parton.

“With his Texas roots, the halftime show is more than a performance for Malone,” the press release stated. “When he was young, Malone’s family moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex after his father, Rich Post, took a job with the Dallas Cowboys as the assistant director of food and beverage at AT&T Stadium and remained close with the Gene and Jerry Jones family and the Cowboys organization.”

Speaking on the upcoming game, Post Malone said, “I’m from Texas. I grew up a Cowboys fan and have been watching this halftime show for years. It’s a real honor to be part of the Red Kettle Kickoff with The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys and help bring hope to so many people.”

In the commercial for the upcoming game, which was released on November 16, we see Post Malone driving a semi-truck that is towing a gigantic red kettle for the Salvation Army’s fundraising campaign.

Riding shotgun with him is the Dallas Cowboys’ mascot, Rowdy.

“Bigger is always better,” says Post Malone over the CB radio, before looking over to Rowdy and saying, “You know what I mean?”

An NFL commentator can be heard saying, “Post Malone is teaming up with the Dallas Cowboys and the Salvation Army to spread joy as big as Texas.”

As they pull into the AT&T Stadium, the semi-track can be seen bumping into a sign reading: “Reserved For Jerry Jones.”

Upon getting out of the truck, Post Malone hands Dallas Cowboys placekicker Brandon Aubrey the truck’s manifest, humorously having him sign for the iconic Salvation Army red kettle he had been transporting.

With the Chiefs playing against the Cowboys, there’s a chance that Post Malone won’t be the only music superstar in attendance, as Taylor Swift is engaged to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

See How The NFL Gave Clues About Post Malone’s Performance

In a video shared by the Dallas Cowboys to social media, a variety of clues were presented regarding who will be performing at the Thanksgiving football game’s halftime show.

Opening on a shot of a full quill ostrich cowboy boot putting the pedal to the metal, we then saw an 18-wheeler coming over the horizon.

Post Malone is known for sporting these particular kind of cowboy boots, and he has made trucking part of his persona, with a comic book series called Big Rig.

From there, a bobblehead of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott could be seen by a Salvation Army bell on the dash of the truck. Of course, Post Malone name dropped Prescott in his song “Wow.”

As the truck parks, we then saw those ostrich cowboy boots again with a better glimpse of a pair of slim fit jeans.

Then, the Cowboys’ mascot, Rowdy, could be seen running onto the field. Post Malone is a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys — with the singer sporting a Cowboys jersey in his music video for “Pour Me A Drink” — and his own cowboy hat resembles the shape of Rowdy’s.
