The Legacy Of Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Dale Earnhardt Sr. is considered “the most influential figure the sport [of NASCAR] has ever known.”

The North Carolina native earned his first full-time ride in 1979, and his recognizable talent earned him the title of Rookie of the Year that same year. He was admired for his authenticity, charisma, and dedication to racing. His aggressive driving style and no-nonsense approach earned him the nickname “The Intimidator.”

Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s life was cut tragically short when he suffered a fatal crash during the final lap of the Daytona 500 on February 18, 2001. He left behind his wife, Theresa, and four children – Dale Jr., Kerry, Taylor, and Kelley.
