Cowgirl Influencer Valeria Mireles Dies In Car Accident In Mexico

Valeria Mireles, a cowgirl influencer known as “Miss Rodeo,” tragically died in a car accident on Monday (March 10).

Mireles had a devoted fanbase on TikTok and Instagram, with nearly 100,000 followers between the two platforms. She used her profiles to showcase her love for horses, barrel racing, and the cowgirl lifestyle. 

Mireles was crowned the “Mexico Rodeo Queen” for 2021-2022.

Mireles’ passion was evident to everyone who watched her compete in rodeo events such as barrel racing, goat tying, and pole racing. In a statement released after her death, the Mexican Rodeo Federation said:

“Valeria was more than a rodeo queen; she was an ambassador of cowboy culture, an inspiration to many young women. Her smile lit up every arena, and her passion for rodeo was contagious. Although her passing leaves a void, her legacy will live on in our hearts and in the memory of rodeo.”

Mireles last posted on social media on Saturday (March 8), when she shared a video of her and a friend dancing together.

Sadly, just two days later, Mireles died in a car accident in Nuevo León, Mexico. She was only 20 years old.

The last video she shared, seen above, now has dozens of comments mourning her death.

Valeria Mireles’ Family Releases Statements

Mireles’ family released a brief statement to Mexican news outlet N+, cited by PEOPLE and other sources. They “asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.

Mireles’ uncle, David González Morton, shared a tribute to the beautiful “Miss Rodeo” on Facebook. He wrote his post in Spanish, which roughly translates to:

“Niece Ana Valeria Mireles Villarreal, you will always live in our hearts. We are going to miss you a lot.”

One of Mireles’ friends, named Cindy, also shared a tribute to her on social media. The tribute contains a slideshow of photos alongside a touching message in the caption.

Cindy wrote her message in Spanish. Part of it roughly translates to:

…heaven couldn’t be more lucky to have you. We’re gonna miss you cowgirl!!!
