The country music community was stunned when Reba McEntire revealed that she and her husband, Narvel Blackstock, were going their seperate ways after 26 years of marriage. Two months after they announced the end of their marriage, McEntire and Blackstock’s divorce was finalized in October 2015.
In the time that has passed since then, Reba has been open in interviews about how hard the divorce was on her. As she told CMT’s Cody Alan, it was especially painful because it wasn’t even her idea to get divorced in the first place. “I didn’t want it in any shape, form, or fashion so it was really hard to make the adjustment,” she said.
In a new interview with Fox News Entertainment, McEntire opened up further about her divorce, and how she managed to pull through. She said more than anything else, her faith is what helped her find the strength to get through each day.
“Without [faith], I don’t know what I would have done,” she said. “I guess I would have been a puddle on the floor. You’ve got to have somebody to talk to. And God is my therapist and best friend. I love the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.”
But McEntire said that she’s always relied on her faith, not just during her divorce. Without her faith, McEntire doesn’t know how she would manage to make it through life in general.
“My faith is the most important thing in my life,” she said. “I don’t know how I would get through the day or even a moment without a relationship with God. That is the first thing I do in the morning is thank Him for a good night sleep and I say good morning and I’m thrilled He is going to guide me through the day.”
Thanks to her faith, McEntire has managed to make it through one of the most difficult times of her life, and is now stronger than before. Her career is on a roll, as she has a series of shows lined up with Brooks & Dunn in Las Vegas in December and she recently debuted a new line of accessories at Cracker Barrel.
If we know anything about McEntire, we know that she’s a survivor!
