Ringo Starr To Make His Opry Debut

Ringo Starr’s invitation to perform at the Grand Ole Opry comes shortly after the release of his debut country album, Look Up.

Earlier this week, it was announced that former Beatles member Ringo Starr will headline a two-hour concert special at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. A portion of the proceeds are set to go towards relief efforts for the Los Angeles wildfire victims.

The event, titled Ringo & Friends at the Ryman will air on CBS in the spring.

The special includes a star-studded lineup of guests performing with Starr, including Sheryl Crow, Rodney Crowell, Mickey Guyton, Emmylou Harris, Sarah Jarosz, Jamey Johnson, Brenda Lee, Larkin Poe, Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, The War and Treaty, Jack White, and more.

Although details remain limited until the concert airs, reports confirm that all guests will join Starr to put a country twist on reimagined versions of several Beatles classics, including “Boys,” “Act Naturally,” “With a Little Help From My Friends,” “Yellow Submarine,” “Don’t Pass Me By,” and “It Don’t Come Easy.”

The first night of filming kicked off on Wednesday, January 15, and brought a surprise for Ringo Starr. While a show of this scale is bound to include memorable moments, Starr was caught off guard by a special honor presented to him by Country Music Hall of Famer Emmylou Harris.

As reported by The Tennessean, while Starr was performing tracks from his new album, the “If This Is Goodbye” singer stepped on stage to deliver the prestigious invite for him to perform on the Grand Ole Opry stage for the very first time.

“I’d love to. It’s an honor and a pleasure. Thank you,” Starr said to Harris.

The date for Ringo Starr’s Grand Ole Opry debut has been officially set for February 21.
