Hot on the heels of reports that he may be quitting music altogether, Sam Hunt has released his long-awaited follow-up single to 2017’s “Body Like A Backroad.”
In a detailed interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Hunt revealed he’s been interested in things other than music.
“I don’t know where my career will go from here, but my sole focus hasn’t been on making music all the time like it was in my twenties,” he said. “I’m not writing as many songs. My interests have changed.”
Since releasing his debut album, Montevallo, in 2014, he’s gotten married and taken some time off to travel with his new wife, Hannah. Despite the album’s success, as well as his record-breaking “Body Like A Backroad,” Hunt says, he’s been writing song that don’t really represent who he is, which is the reason he hasn’t put out a sophomore album.
Although it sounds like he has no intention of putting out another album anytime soon, it doesn’t mean he is giving up music altogether. He went on a wildly successful headlining tour in 2017, and will be joining Luke Bryan for a stadium tour this summer.
Fans can expect to hear him sing “Downtown’s Dead,” his brand-new single released on Wednesday (May 16). Hunt announced the arrival just one day before, wiping his entire Instagram clean to promote it.
