On January 12, 2020, Tanya Tucker headlined a two-hour show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The show served as the official kickoff of Tucker’s 2020 CMT Next Women of Country: Bring My Flowers Now Tour.

The tour featured performances from up-and-coming female artists such as Aubrie Sellers, Brandy Clark, and the duo Walker County.

What better way to kick off such a monumental tour than hosting a show at the Ryman?

This marked Tucker’s first time headlining “The Mother Church of Country Music,” and she pulled out all the stops for the event. She was joined onstage by a number of special guests throughout the night, including Margo Price, Dennis Quaid, and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Cyrus united with Tucker to perform two of his biggest hits. First, they sang “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X. Cyrus contributed to one of the song’s remixes, and that recording won the CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year in November.

Tucker seems to be a fan of “Old Town Road,” and danced while Cyrus sang solo to open the song.

On top of singing “Old Town Road,” Tucker and Cyrus also performed Cyrus’ number one country hit from 1992, “Achy Breaky Heart.”

The song, which was Cyrus’ debut single, was also a crossover success. It peaked at the fourth spot on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. “Achy Breaky Heart” was the biggest hit of Cyrus’ career prior to “Old Town Road,” which claimed the Hot 100′s number one spot.

So you can imagine how excited the crowd got when Tucker and Cyrus broke out into “Achy Breaky Heart” in the middle of her Ryman show.

Tucker also shared a short, solo cover of “Achy Breaky Heart” with her fans on Instagram. She performed the song earlier in the day for a sound check.

Calling the song “A classic” in her video’s caption, Tucker included the hashtags #achybreakyheart and #TanyaMotherTucker.

The video Tucker shared shows her getting her groove on while singing “Achy Breaky Heart.” Her band was also on stage and performed with her.
