The horse owner, a Colorado teen named Maggie shared her extreme sadness with tears in an interview. She and the horse dominated barrel racing for years, winning several titles before the horse retired.
“He was my best friend. This morning, I got the call that he was shot,” she shared with FOX31.
No video surveillance was available on the crime scene so it’s very hard to easily identify who did it. The 17-year-old expressed her theories about maybe someone targeted her prize-winning horse and killed him by mistake or that maybe someone was just shooting horses randomly in the area.
“Why do you just shoot an innocent animal?” Maggie cried out.
The relationship Maggie said she had with Boo Boo was stronger than she ever had with other pets. He was more of a soulmate to her. Maggie hopes the investigation will lead to the capture of the criminal and justice served.
