Texas Country Band Shane Smith & The Saints Experience Bus Fire: 'Everything’s Gone'

Texas Country Band Shane Smith & The Saints Experience Bus Fire: ‘Everything’s Gone’

Shane Smith & The Saints take the phrase “The show must go on” quite literally, even after what they’ve been through.

On Thursday (Nov. 21), Shane Smith, frontman for the Texas country band Shane Smith & the Saints, posted a devastating photo of the band’s tour bus after a fire.  All that was left was the shell of the bus.

“Thanking God we’re all okay,” Smith wrote. “Don’t even know what to say. Everything’s gone. We’re still playing the shows. See you in Lubbock tonight. Help spread the word for us & lets [sic] sell it out.”

Smith also shared a video on his Instagram story of firefighters putting out the fire.

Jeb Hurt, the band’s booking agent told Saving Country Music, ““They were in Coleman, TX en route for the show tonight, and were waved down by passers by that there was something wrong. So they pulled over, and as these things tend to happen, they got out, were able to see that there was some flames coming out from underneath the bus, and within a matter of minutes, the bus was engulfed. Shane said that by the time the fire department got there, it had done what it had done. The bus was burning out. It was just a matter of minutes.”

They lost instruments, merchandise, and all their personal belongings, but somehow they managed to get to their Cook’s Garage performance Thursday night and perform. After news of the fire spread, the venue’s Facebook page posted on Facebook, encouraging fans to come to the performance to help out the band.

A fan named David Wilde confirmed the band in fact did play their scheduled show in Lubbock, saying, “‘Hey our bus burned down’ would’ve been a perfectly acceptable excuse to cancel a show. But not these guys. They’re from Texas after all. They fought like hell and made it in time to put on an incredible show for Lubbock. Nothing but respect for Shane Smith and The Saints.
