Aspiring Singers Give Their All On The Road
Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, and Gretchen Wilson search for the next country star on CBS’ new realty series The Road. Each week, the contestants travel to a new city and perform both original and cover songs for a live audience. The crowd decides their fate in real time, voting for their least and most favorite performers.
This week, the remaining seven musicians brought the show to Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. “Cowboys and Angels” singer, Dustin Lynch, served as a guest mentor in place of Blake Shelton who was not present for this episode.

For the first time, the contestants were tasked with delivering two group performances. First up, Cassidy Daniels, Adam Sanders, and Billie Jo Jones opened the show with Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way.” Lynch gave them a 10/10 for their performance.

Next, Channing Wilson, Cody Hibbard, Jenny Tolman, and Britnee Kellogg covered “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The Road Takes Tulsa, Gives Contestants A New Challenge
Adam Sanders and Dustin Lynch have collaborated in the past. They wrote “Hell of a Night” which went number-one in 2015. Next, he showed off his confidence on stage with his original song “All Summer Long.”

After struggling with illness for the first few performances, Urban remarked that Billie Jo Jones sounded noticeably better this week. She brought the sass with her original song, “Flame.”

Cassidy Daniels described her original song “That Kind of Man” as a “redneck baby maker.” She joked, “Fellas, take notes.”

At Urban’s advice, Britnee Kellogg stepped out from behind her guitar this week for her song “Love Thy Neighbor.”

Cody Hibbard’s hometown is only an hour from the venue, so his mother, father, and fiance were in attendance at the show. His song, “We Speak Country,” reflects on the traditional way he was raised.

Jenny Tolman changed the key of her original song, “Married In A Honky Tonk,” at the advice Urban. Even though she admitted it was difficult to do, she pulled it off and afterwards, described it as one her best performances yet on the show.

Finally, Channing Wilson closed out the show with a bang. The crowd went wild for his “Real Damn Country Song.”

One Contestant Reaches The End Of The Road
After all the performances had wrapped, Keith Urban revealed that the audience voted Cassidy Daniels as the top performer of the night. She has come out on top every time she has performed and is definitely a front runner in the competition.
Consequently, Billie Jo Jones and Jenny Tolman received the least amount of votes and were on the chopping block. Ultimately, Urban decided that it was Tolman’s time to go home, after being in the bottom three separate times.
Next week, The Road will continue with a special acoustic show in Little Rock, Arkansas. Tune in Sunday at 9/8pm central on CBS and Paramount+.
