On August 10, singer Michelle Branch published a post on Twitter, which has since been deleted, accusing her husband of cheating on her while she was home with now six-month old baby Willie.

Branch’s husband is Patrick Carney, of the band The Black Keys, and they were married on April 20, 2019. They are also parents to a son named Rhys James, who was born in 2018.

The day after  (August 11), Branch released a statement to PEOPLE announcing her separation from Carney.

To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family,” she said. “The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”

On Friday (August 12) it was reported that Branch had been arrested for domestic abuse. Cops in Nashville were called to the home she shares with Carney and according to the police report, Branch admits she slapped her husband “one to two times.”

Carney did not have any injuries, but Branch was still booked. She was released on a $1,000 bail. TMZ reports she got out early because she is breastfeeding their baby.

You may know Michelle Branch from her pop career in the early 2000s, or as part of the country music duo The Wreckers.
