Toby Keith’s return to the road might happen sooner than we think!
Toby Keith’s first rehearsal since his diagnosis with stomach cancer turned into a 2 1/2 hour concert at Hollywood Corners, his venue in Norman, Oklahoma.
In June of 2022, the singer revealed his diagnosis of stomach cancer and shared that he already had 6 months of treatments behind him.
He recently shared his vision for the future stating he hoped to be back on the road as early as the fall of 2023 if all goes well. Things are looking hopeful as his tumor has already shrunk by a third! He continues to undergo chemotherapy treatment along with immunotherapy to combat the cancer on all sides.
“I’ve got more wind,” he said. “And I’m thinking about bringing the band in and setting up, playing two or three days somewhere just to see if I can get through two hours. All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we’ll go back to work,” Toby added, saying that he’s ready!
A smiling Keith took to instagram Saturday, July 1, to share a picture of his first rehearsal performance since his diagnosis with the caption, “Toby‘s first rehearsal turned into a 2 1/2 hour pop-up show. He sang all the hits plus the Bus Songs…Toby is back!”

The rehearsal was a trial run to see if he has the stamina for a 2-3 hour performance necessary to hit the road again in the near future, but quickly went from a trial-run to the real deal.
One fan posted a video of the surprise performance on twitter showing a happy, lively Toby Keith with his iconic red Solo cup within arms reach.

We can only hope this means Keith will be returning to the road in the near future!
