Born in 1957 near North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, Vanna was born as Vanna Marie Rosich.Her parents, Joan and Miguel Rosich divorced when Vanna was just an infant. She was raised by her mom, and stepfather Herbert White Jr. She later took her stepdad’s last name.
Shortly after she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment, her mother became ill with ovarian cancer and she moved back to Myrtle Beach for the summer of 1980 to be with her before she died.

Now, 42 years after her mother’s death, she is mourning another huge loss – her stepfather. Vanna often posted tributes to her stepdad, who she refers to on social media as her dad.

Vanna announced o n April 1st that her dad, Herbert White Jr., had passed away at the age of 96.
Alongside a sweet photo of the two of them, she wrote, “It is with great sadness that I tell you my 96 year old dad passed away peacefully this morning. He lived a full and happy life and will be remembered as one of the kindest and most wonderful human beings of North Myrtle Beach. I love you so much dad. RIP.”
Comments from fans and friends flooded her post sending her well wishes.
Pat Sajak’s daughter, Maggie, wrote, “I am so very sorry for your loss. My whole family is thinking of you.”
