Just a couple hours before Nashville’s John C. Tune Airport was damaged by a tornado, country singer Dierks Bentley’s plane landed there.

According to WKRN, hangars and airplanes were destroyed, estimated to be in the millions.

At 8:23 AM Eastern Time, Nashville Mayor John Cooper and Governor Bill Lee confirmed there were eight total deaths from the tornados. Sadly, MSNBC reports that the death toll has risen to 22.

Over 20,000 people are still without power, but earlier this morning that number was over 50,000. The number of buildings that have collapsed is around 48 and there are so many more that were damaged. Many of the collapsed structures were apartment complexes, leaving so many residents now homeless.

At 9:30 AM local time, Bentley tweeted out a video of a storm cell his plane flew around full of dark clouds and lightning.

We ducked around this cell and landed at john tune airport around 11:30 last night. Glad we landed when we did. Wouldn’t have been good an hour later. It was the cell that turned into the tornado. Lot of people lost their homes. No one comes together as a city like Nashville does,” he wrote on Twitter.

We’re so glad Bentley and his band are okay. Sadly, his drummer lost his home, which Bentley himself revealed on Instagram.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the tornados.
