The 4 Country Artists Shared A Cryptic Set Of Posts
Four of the biggest names in country music are all sharing cryptic posts today.
Morgan Wallen, Tim McGraw, Eric Church, and HARDY have all shared posts bearing the surname McArthur.
Scrawled against a weathered black leather, a different McArthur name is written in grey on each of the posts, with the date of their birth and death printed in red.
None of the country artists provided captions or any supporting text to provide context on their Jan. 26 posts.
Could this be a collaborative concept album? Maybe a new song about generational progress.

“McArthur” Posts Shared By Country Artists
Notably, Morgan Wallen and Eric Church have collaborated before, recording “Man Made A Bar” on Wallen’s 2023 album One Thing at a Time; and “Number 3 and Number 7” on Wallen’s 2025 album I’m The Problem.
Wallen has also collaborated with HARDY, with HARDY having co-written several songs for Wallen, and been featured as a collaborator on tracks like “In The Bible” and “Come Back as a Redneck.”
However, the spelling of the name McArthur, instead of “MacArthur” with an extra A, seems to place the project outside of history.
Rather than the famed General Douglas MacArthur, of World War II; or even the late Pastor John MacArthur, whose MacArthur Study Bible remains an authoritative guide through Scripture, the name McArthur, with that spelling, is not one of great cultural or historical prominence.
See the posts by each of the country artists, and ponder the meaning of these names and dates for yourself, below.
Starting chronologically by character’s birth, Tim McGraw posted the name John McArthur, born Nov. 2, 1920, who died on Nov. 22, 1963.
Of course, Nov. 22, 1963, is also the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Next, Eric Church posted the name Junior McArthur, born Sept. 2, 1945, who died on April 4, 1967.
In this case, Junior was born the day that Japan surrendered to the Allied Forces in World War II.
Then, HARDY posted the name Jones McArthur, born June 5, 1968, who died on Jan. 5, 2025.
On theme, June 5, 1968, was the day that Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Finally, Morgan Wallen posted on his Instagram story the name Hunter McArthur, who was born May 13, 1993.
Of all these characters, Hunter is the only one who is still alive, and his birthday is the same as Wallen’s.

Fans Respond To The Posts
With much of America snowed in, the timing of these posts being shared has been perfect for those who enjoy a good plot.
Fans have been looking up the dates and hypothesizing about what the McArthur project could prove to be.
On Facebook, someone commented, “Country music is asking itself: ‘What kind of sons are we raising now?’ Tim McGraw – father (old country); Eric Church – the outlaw, rebel; Hardy – chaos; [and] Wallen – Living in the aftermath of past generations’ mistakes. Modern new country.”
Someone else commented, “I have no idea what this is but I will say it’d be cool if it’s a some type of tribute style album. McGraw is “old school roots”, Church the outlaw roots, Hardy the crossover between rock and country, and Wallen the current mainstream era.”
One fan simply wrote, “Whatever it is = it’ll be amazing!”
Some fans also pointed to Jan. 30 being a day that may see the McArthur project’s meaning being revealed, as Eric Church announced at a show in D.C. last week, “We have a surprise coming next Friday. January 30th, I’d be around my phone.”
Who the “we” in that statement is remains unclear, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.
