Meet American Idol Contestant Bryant Thomas, Also Known As “The Secret Shower Singer” On TikTok
One of the standout moments from American Idol‘s Season 24 premiere came when a contestant dropped to one knee and surprised his girlfriend with a proposal!
26-year-old Bryant Thomas from Mobile, Alabama, has 110,000 fans on social media. Yet, until recently, none of them had ever seen his face.
Bryant’s girlfriend, Alyona, posts videos of herself doing her hair and makeup in the bathroom. You can hear Bryant singing in the shower in the background, and he’s quite good!
But Bryant never appeared on camera in any of the videos, earning him the nickname “The Secret Shower Singer.”
After rising to fame online as an anonymous figure, Bryant decided to put himself out there by auditioning for American Idol. Alyona waited in the wings to see if the judges liked his audition.
Bryant remained hidden when he entered the audition room. He started off singing Phil Collins’ “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)” while standing behind a pillar. “Well this is the first time we’ve ever allowed one of these to go this way,” judge Luke Bryan remarked.
Although the judges couldn’t see Bryant’s face, they were immediately intrigued by his powerful voice. Their intrigue turned into absolute fascination when Bryant emerged, revealing his identity for the first time. Needless to say, their reactions were priceless!
After receiving a standing ovation from all three judges, Bryant admitted he felt a little “overwhelmed.” But he didn’t have any need to worry, because the judges loved him!
“Your voice is outrageous…it’s incredible, it really is,” said judge Carrie Underwood. “Even over there, behind a pillar, you can feel just so much emotion and life in your voice. So, well done.”
Lionel Richie echoed her comments, saying “I think we got ourselves a hit record here. You’ve got star power vocals man.“
Bryant Thomas Shocks Everyone By Proposing To His Girlfriend On American Idol
To no surprise, the judges all voted “yes” and gave Bryant a Golden Ticket! But the excitement surrounding his audition didn’t end there…
After Bryant’s loved ones and Alyona made their way into the room, he said, “I have one thing to say, if that’s alright.”
Multiple people, including Carrie, gasped as Bryant pulled out a ring box and got down on one knee to propose to Alyona. Clearly shocked, Alyona covered her face with her hand as Bryant said:
“I told you…when we started this whole journey…that you were the one for me. To be honest, whether I got a Golden Ticket or not, I was gonna do this. And I just want you to know that my journey started with you, and it’s gonna end with you.“
Alyona was speechless, but she finally managed to give Bryant an enthusiastic “yes!” before he slid the ring onto her finger. “Congratulations!” Lionel exclaimed. “Only on ‘American Idol!‘”
