Last summer, musician Kid Rock was at the center of many rumors, one of which being that he would be making a career change and heading into politics.

Specifically, the rumors said that he’d be running for US Senate, in hopes of representing his home state of Michigan. He’s not shy about his political views, which is why he had so much support from early on.
He didn’t comment on those rumors until he launched the website KidRockForSenate.com in July 2017. While he didn’t confirm or deny a Senate run, he did say he was going to use the opportunity to get people registered to vote at his concerts and create a non-profit to help promote voter registration.

He later revealed on Howard Stern’s radio show that he was, in fact, not running for Senate.
“F*** no, I’m not running for Senate! Are you f***ing kidding me? Who couldn’t figure that out?” he told Stern. “I’m releasing the new album on November 3rd or something like that, I’m going on tour, too, which no one’s gonna print.”
Kid Rock pretty much just took the rumors that were already out there and ran with them – and who can blame him? He even had merchandise made.

Since that interview, he’s stayed pretty silent on the topic – especially during the June primary elections, where he backed Republican Senate candidate John James, and wanted to address his Senate run with his fans.
“You know, I was hearing from the White House weekly,” he said, according to USA Today. “There were governors and senators that endorsed me. There were people that wrote me letters from all over … So to those people, I apologize.”
As it turns out, many people thought he was serious, so he truly wanted to say sorry to them, as well as shine a light on his candidate, John James.
“I hope you’ll accept that apology, and I hope you’ll also trust me when I say I’m 100% here to endorse and do everything I can to make sure John James gets into the U.S. Senate,” he said.
