Boryspil International Airport published a video on Instagram in September 2020 showing a woman sitting on the wing of a plane moments after the plane had landed. It happened in Kiev, Ukraine and she flew in from the Turkish resort city Antalya.
According to The Sun and as shown in the video, the woman allegedly opened the emergency exit with no authorization from the crew and walked out onto the wing of the Boeing 737-86N. She stayed seated on the plane wing for a short time before the crew asked her to come back in the plane.
The woman, a mother of two, shocked her children who were traveling with her. The incident happened while all passengers, including her children, were making their way out of the front door as passengers usually do.
A witness told The Sun reporters:
“The aircraft landed and almost all the passengers got off. She walked almost all the way from the tail to the emergency exit row, opened the door and went out. By that time her two children were outside the plane and standing right next to me. They were surprised, saying, ‘that’s our mum!’”
Alarmed by the situation, the pilot asked local police for help and called an ambulance in case the woman was to get injured. According to Ukraine International Airlines reported by The Sun, the woman explained to the police that she was “too hot” and needed to “get some air”. Unfortunately, the woman’s explanation didn’t prevent the airline company from blacklisting her for future travels.
“The passenger was blacklisted for gross violation of aviation safety rules and behaviour on board,” UIA stated, reported by The Sun.
The airline company has also requested a high fine to be paid by the woman for her actions.
