Another Chapter Continues For The Yellowstone Universe
The journey continues for Yellowstone’s Kayce Dutton.
Premiering on CBS this Sunday (March 1), Marshals marks the next chapter in the Yellowstone universe, following John Dutton’s son as he forges a new path with an elite team of U.S. Marshals.
Luke Grimes returns as Kayce and has hinted that fans will see familiar faces from the original series. The first new cast member announced is Logan Marshall-Green, joining the show as Pete Calvin, a trusted friend from Kayce’s military days.
In September, social media accounts for CBS Studios and Yellowstone posted a clip revealing a snippet of what’s to come for fans.
Kayce could be seen riding a horse, chasing down some cars as his voice says, “I’m changing paths, trying to find a new beginning.”
According to Deadline,Gil Birmingham, Brecken Merrill, and Mo Brings Plenty are all returning as Thomas Rainwater, Tate Dutton, and Mo, and they are set to be series regulars this time around.
Despite realing their initial teaser in November 2025, the show changed its name to simply Marshals just two months before the premiere. There was no further information as to why the sudden change.
On Friday, January 23rd, Marshals dropped the first official trailer, hinting at some major surprises to come. You can watch that below.

Marshals Releases A Second Trailer
On Monday (February 23), just six days before the show’s big premiere, CBS released another official trailer. It seems Kayce is on a quest for vengeance in the new series.
While it’s still unknown whether or not creator Taylor Sheridan killed off Monica Dutton (played by Kelsey Ashbille), which radically shifted Kayce’s worldview, it does seem he’s eager to get even with someone.
In the opening of the clip, Kayce can be seen with his son, Tate (Brecken Metrill), talking about his new role as a marshal. When Yellowstone’s infamous Chief Rainwater tells Kayce there’s a difference between “vengeance” and “closure,” saying only one brings peace.
Kayce, however, says says he believes in vengeance while calmly pouring gasoline over motorcycles. Yellowstone was heavily centered on land disputes and the Dutton family’s fight to protect their ranch. However it seems as though Marshals will take a much different direction.
Kayce appears to be balancing his duty as a federal officer with his loyalty to the Dutton family name. You can watch the new trailer for Marshals below.
