Next Chapter In The Yellowstone Universe Begins
Coming to CBS in 2026, Y:Marshals is set to become the next chapter in the Yellowstone universe. The new series follows John Dutton’s son, Kayce Dutton, as he embarks on a bold new path, joining an elite team of U.S. Marshals.
Luke Grimes reprises his role as Kayce and has teased that fans can expect to see some familiar faces from Yellowstone in the spinoff. But the first new addition to the cast is Logan Marshall-Green, who joins as Pete Calvin, a trusted friend from Kayce’s military past.
While Y:Marshals has been promoted for months with its unique title, it appears there has been a switch up in the name of the show just before it’s set to make its big premiere.
CBS Shares Extended Trailer For Upcoming Series
In November 2025, CBS released an extended trailer for the upcoming series, beginning with Kayce in a dark place, talking about the losses he’s faced.
“I fought every day to get out of the weight of Yellowstone,” Kayce says. “I’ve lost my teammates, my parents, even my brothers,” he continues as he places his hand on a tombstone. “I know that sometimes good men have to do bad things. But I’m trying to find a new beginning.”
Kayce has stepped into a new role as the leader of a U.S. Marshals team in Montana, and his grown son Tate (Brecken Merrill) has joined him. He made the move after selling the family ranch and deciding it was time for a fresh start, following the events of Yellowstone’s season finale, which closed out the Paramount Network series.

Y: Marshals Gets A New Name Just In Time For Its Release
Just two months before its March premiere date, Y: Marshals will now just be titled, Marshals, TV Insider reported. There is no further information as to why the sudden change.
However, Marshals is expected to bring back some familiar faces. Deadline confirmed Gil Birmingham, Brecken Merrill, and Mo Brings Plenty are all returning as Thomas Rainwater, Tate Dutton, and Mo, and they are set to be series regulars this time around.
Marshals premieres on Sunday, March 1, at 8/7c on CBS.
