15-Year-Old Snags 876-Pound Tuna In North Carolina

Sea Drag'n Charters / Facebook

Al Morris Jr. grew up fishing. His dad, Al Morris Sr., is a captain and founder of Sea Drag’n Charters, a charter service that has a fleet of boats to take folks out to fish in Atlantic City, North Carolina.

On January 16, 2020, Al Jr. went out fishing for the day with his dad and crewman Jeff Clark. Usually fisherman are just excited to be out there on the ocean and if you bring anything home, that’s a plus. Well, Al Jr. reeled in the biggest catch Morehead City has seen this season. He caught a 876-pound Bluefin Tuna!

Teenage Al used a ballyhoo, which has become one of the more popular baits this season, and was able to catch the 101-inch monster in 40-foot deep water.

The high schooler has had quite the year of catches. According to Carolina Sportsman, in the last 12 months, Al Jr. has caught a 100-pound swordfish and a few months later, a 400-pound swordfish that he battled for hours.
