The Prequel’s Second Season Launches With A Record-Breaking Premiere

After the final episode of Yellowstone, fans were left with many questions. For instance, will there be a spinoff? What will happen to Beth and Rip? And what show will I watch next?

Taylor Sheridan didn’t wait too long to address that last question with the release of Season 2 of the Yellowstone prequel in 1923.

This series follows the Dutton family as they establish their ranch in Montana. It shares themes similar to Yellowstone’s, as the family has to kill to keep their land. With its intense and steamy romances, political intrigue, and historically accurate storytelling, 1923 seems to make a good replacement for the Yellowstone fanbase.

With the original series ending, the prequel is gaining massive attention. Yellowstone fans turned out in the millions for the first episode of the second season of 1923.

Paramount+ reports that the episode “The Killing Season” garnered 5.4 million global viewers, a large jump from the previous season’s 2.2 million viewers.

That whopping number made 1923 the biggest original premiere in Paramount+ history. This opening weekend may allow the show to claim the title of Paramount+’s most-watched show, currently held by another Taylor Sheridan original, Landman.

It portrays the grim realities of an era transitioning from the Wild West to modern times. The episode picks up right where the last episode of season one left off, with all the characters in precarious situations.

The Dutton family is hanging on to their ranch by a thread as they await Spencer’s return to Montana, hoping he will arrive like a knight in shining armor and save the day. While Spencer is separated from his new bride by an entire ocean. Season 2 is ramping up to be an exciting yet intense adventure.
