Lainey Wilson Talks Yellowstone, Grammys Performance And More

Although Lainey Wilson did not win a Grammy Award this year, she was nominated for her hit album Whirlwind. During the 2025 Grammys, she performed a Quincy Jones tribute.

In a pre-show interview, she expressed her excitement about performing at the Grammys.

She was also asked about her potential return to Yellowstone. The show’s creator Taylor Sheridan has consistently worked with a stellar cast and invited Wilson to play the character Abby in the series.

While the main Yellowstone series has ended (and on a bit of a cliffhanger), the show is getting a rumored spin-off centered on Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton. There have also been talks of a 6666 Ranch spin-off following some of the other characters.

Could Wilson make a return to the Yellowstone universe? When asked, she playfully responded:

“We’ll see. I mean, Taylor Sheridan is full of surprises and ideas. So if he calls and said, let’s keep the story going, I’m there.”

Lainey Wilson Speaks About Her Time On Yellowstone

Yellowstone took the world by storm, with creator Taylor Sheridan leveraging its momentum to create multiple spinoffs. Shows like 1883, 1923, and the upcoming series The Madison.

In an interview with Theo Von, Wilson discussed her role on the hit series, sharing that playing Abby introduced her to a new fan base, including people who may have never heard her music before.

In her own words, she said, “I mean, they’ve been great to me. They put several of my songs on the show, which really just introduced me to a crowd of people who might not listen to radio or stream music.”

Wilson went on to praise Sheridan, mentioning that he specifically wrote the role of Abby for her, encouraging her to be herself under a different name.

“Taylor Sheridan, the writer and producer, he’s just been good to me. I mean, he called me last February, and he’s like, he said, I got this idea. He said, I want to create a character specifically for you, and he said, wear your bell bottoms, sing your songs, pretty much be you, but go by a musician named Abby. And I mean, this is my first acting gig. I’ve been acting a fool my whole life, but this was like, you know, the real thing.”

While there is no official confirmation regarding the upcoming Taylor Sheridan spinoffs, the mutual respect between Wilson and Sheridan suggests that a resurgence in Lainey Wilson’s acting career might be on the horizon.
