A 72-year-old Amy veteran helped police put an end to a manhunt in South Carolina.

Army veteran, John Earl, told the Florence County Sheriff Deputies that he noticed the suspect running through the yard of his home. Earl was alarmed and neared the man to ask where the suspect was going. The wanted man pushed Earl away, which is when the veteran decided to take action. Earl managed to take down the suspect and hogtied him. Afterward, the veteran called the police and waited for them to take the suspect into custody.

While the wanted man’s identity has yet to be released to the public, the police department did reveal that they had been searching for the man since the previous day.

“I haven’t been pumped up like that in a long time. It felt good but it felt good when the officers came and put the cuffs on him and took him out. They’re some fine officers,” Earl admitted in a statement to WSOC-TV

Fortunately, the veteran’s quick thinking kept the suspect from further evasion. It also eliminated the threat of the suspect becoming a possible danger to others in the area.
