Latest Batch Of Songs From Aldean’s Next Album, ‘Songs About Us,’ Includes A Unique Cover And Duet With David Lee Murphy
On Saturday, Feb. 28, chart-topping country artist Jason Aldean will be celebrating his birthday, turning 49.
What better way for a recording artist to celebrate than to give back to his fans…
In a video shared to his social media, Jason Aldean could be seen sitting at a bar as his yet to be released song “Don’t Tell On Me” plays in the background. He then slides a drink down the bar, as if offering his fans the song with as much ease.
In the caption of this post, he asked, “Are you ready for more new music?” The caption also noted that three songs would be released on Friday, Feb. 27.
As promised — one day before his birthday, on Feb. 27 — Jason released the three new songs from his upcoming album, Songs About Us, including “Don’t Tell On Me,” “Drinking About You,” and “Dust on the Bottle.”
Notably, “Dust on the Bottle” is a duet with country artist David Lee Murphy, who initially wrote and recorded the song for his 1994 album, Out with a Bang.
For David Lee Murphy, “Dust on the Bottle” was his first No. 1 hit.

Compare Jason Aldean’s Duet With David Lee Murphy To Murphy’s Original 1994 Version Of “Dust On The Bottle”
“Dust on the Bottle” finds Aldean singing with David Lee Murphy, with Aldean’s version largely staying true to the 1994 original recording of the song that proved successful for David Lee Murphy.
The use of electric guitar is more pronounced on Aldean’s version, but this song’s inclusion allows for it to be discovered anew.
It also continues a trend for Aldean of recording songs penned by David Lee Murphy.
This was addressed in a video conversation between the two artists, during which Aldean said, “You’ve been a big part of what we’ve done for the last 20 years, man … I feel like you’ve had at least one cut on pretty much every album we’ve done, for the most part.”
Responding to this, David Lee Murphy said, “I feel like I’m part of the family.”
Past Aldean recordings of David Lee Murphy’s work as a songwriter include “Lonesome U.S.A.,” “I Break Everything I Touch,” “Big Green Tractor,” “Just Passing Through,” “The Only Way I Know,” “Walking Away,” “Sweet Little Somethin’,” “I Took It With Me,” “Miss That Girl,” “Up In Smoke,” and “Hungover In A Hotel.”
In addition to those songs, the upcoming Songs About Us album includes another song penned by David Lee Murphy, “Lovin’ Me Too Long.”
