The Voice Says Goodbye To Blake Shelton After 23 Seasons & Hundreds Of Contestants Coached

The May 2023 Voice finale was bittersweet. After 23 seasons, coach Blake Shelton bid “farewell” to the show.

The Voice made sure to give Blake a proper send-off. The show opened with a performance from one of the original coaches, CeeLo Green. He sang a series of 80s covers including “Jack & Diane” and “Don’t You (Forget About Me).”

Then, as Green moved into singing “Livin’ On a Prayer,” he stepped aside to reveal some special guests. Those guests were past members of Team Blake: Chloe Kohanski (winner of Season 13), Cam Anthony (winner of Season 20), bodie (Season 22), and Wendy Moten (Season 21).

Shelton watched the performance from his red chair while his good friend (and another original coach) Adam Levine sat next to him. You could tell Shelton was thrilled to watch his past team members sing with CeeLo!

But that wasn’t the only surprise The Voice had in store for Shelton. Later in the episode, more members of Team Blake appeared to deliver a tribute performance to their former coach.

The performance opened with various people onstage, their backs facing the crowd. One by one, each person turned around and joined in singing Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).”

Season 22’s champion Bryce Leatherwood opened the performance. It turns out that all nine of Shelton’s winners were present that night. In addition to Kohanski, Anthony, and Leatherwood, there was Jermaine Paul (Season 2), Cassadee Pope (Season 3), Danielle Bradbery (Season 4), Craig Wayne Boyd (Season 7), Sundance Head (Season 11), and Todd Tilghman (Season 18).

Some other members of Team Blake who participated in the “Time of Your Life” tribute included RaeLynn (Season 2), The Swon Brothers (Season 4), Dia Frampton (Season 1), Xenia (Season 1), and Ian Flanigan (Season 19).

While they sang, clips of Shelton with his past contestants played on the screen.

Shelton was surprised to see all of his Voice winners and other past contestants together onstage. He specifically mentioned how moved he was to see people there from his earliest seasons, including Season 1.

It was a touching thing to see all of Shelton’s Voice winners and his other team members under one roof. Watch their tribute to him in the video below.
