Alex Miller, a fan-favorite contestant from season 19 of American Idol, was involved in a fatal bus crash on Tuesday (Feb 13).

According to reports, the incident took place around 10:30 pm in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, about 30 minutes away from Alex Miller’s hometown of Lancaster. The 20-year-old singer was traveling back from vacation with several members of his band. His father, Roger Miller, was driving the bus.

The collision occurred when the driver of a 2004 Toyota Rav4 lost control of his vehicle and veered into the path of the oncoming bus. The driver, identified as James Mcpheron, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Alex and the other crew members on board the bus were not injured.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and it is currently being investigated by Kentucky State Police.

The fatal collision would occur on the trip home from this very vacation. It is unclear whether or not the release of Alex’s new song will be postponed.

We are sending prayers to all involved in this tragic event.
