One Of AGT‘s Brightest
In the entire history of America’s Got Talent, few contestants have gone on to become as beloved and as memorable as Darci Lynne Farmer.
The now 14-year-old singer and ventriloquist was even younger when she won AGT back in 2017. Since then, she has kept busy touring across the country and even had her own Christmas special on NBC.
So when AGT announced it was going to put on a spin-off show devoted to its greatest talents, it was a no-brainer that Darci would be given an invitation to compete.
The show, titled America’s Got Talent: The Champions, debuted in January 2019. It features the talents of Got Talent stars from around the world, including many season finalists such as Darci.
An Unexpected Outcome
Darci appeared in the season’s second episode. Joined by her lovable mouse puppet Oscar, she performed an impressive mashup of “Nutbush City Limits” and “Proud Mary.”
Her performance left the judges visibly impressed, yet no one gave her a golden buzzer following her performance. This is noteworthy, since Darci earned a golden buzzer when she originally competed on AGT.
The Champions has a voting system that is quite different from the one used on normal seasons of AGT. Only two contestants are able to move on per episode.
So if a judge assigns a golden buzzer to one contestant, that leaves just one remaining spot in the competition, which is determined by “superfan” vote. The Champions has defined its superfans as being a group of huge Got Talent fans. Viewers tuning in to the show can not vote, as all of the performances were prerecorded.
Shockingly, when it came time for the superfans to vote on Darci’s fate, they chose not to send her on in the competition. She was eliminated, prompting outrage from fans over the show’s voting system.
I’m shocked! Darci Lynne should NOT have been eliminated!

Darci Lynne. She was on ‘AGT Champions’ but was indirectly eliminated by Heidi as only one talent out of three could go through & she gave a golden buzzer to a guy that shoots arrows ?. Fans were outraged. No exaggeration, Darci Lynne is finest talent I’ve seen on a talent show.

The more and more I think about it how the heck did Darci Lynne get beat on #AGTChampions. She by far was superior to a carnival act. pic.twitter.com/tLVDJvEbeu

Wishes For A Return – Were They Answered?
Still, some maintained hope they would see Darci later on. In typical seasons of AGT, the judges have a “wild card” they can use to invite an eliminated contestant back. Many who witnessed Darci’s surprising elimination wished The Champions would have a wild card as well, and that it would be used on Darci.
Well, all of those wishes came true when it was revealed that Darci was only one of two acts on The Champions to receive the judges’ wild card!
Darci announced the happy news on social media, and she seems excited about the chance to compete again! “Let’s get ready for another round,” she wrote.
Only time will tell if Darci will end up walking away with The Champions‘ winning title. But no matter what place she comes in, she’ll always be a winner in our hearts!
What do y’all think of this news?
Are you relieved that Darci was given a second chance on the show? Do you think she stands a good chance at winning? We sure do!
