The future of Bill Monroe’s former home is up in the air following its recent listing for sale.
The 244-acre property in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, once owned by the late bluegrass singer Bill Monroe, has been put up for sale. The massive property includes the home where Monroe lived until his passing in 1996.
Although many would love to own the home once lived in by the music legend, the property seems unlikely to remain as it is for long.
As of now, the property is set to be developed into a 21-home estate community called The Reserve at Mandolin Hills, if a private sale can not be finalized in the meantime.
The project has already been approved by the county in which the home resides in, according to Bluegrass Today.
The house is currently listed with an asking price of $12 million. Though steep, this presents a rare opportunity to own a piece of music history. According to the listing, the home has not been publicly available for sale in 70 years.
Located just 16 miles from Downtown Nashville, the property includes a cabin from the early 20th century where Bill Monroe lived for nearly 40 years, an 8-stall barn, and a larger house built after his passing.
The agent also mentioned that the current owner of the land would consider selling fewer lots with larger parcels if necessary. However, their goal remains to sell the entire 244-acre property intact, preserving its historical significance and overall value.
According to the agent, the plan to demolish the existing structures and begin construction could potentially start within 90 days if a buyer is not found.
