To celebrate the 25th anniversary of his debut single, and signature song, Billy Ray Cyrus revealed that he would be releasing three versions of “Achy Breaky Heart” this year.
The first re-release is very much like its original counterpart, and features the famous Muscle Shoals rhythm group, the Swampers. In this version, it seems that he embraced his character from his CMT show Still The King, who is an Elvis impersonator, seeing as there are a few Elvis-like growls in the song!
The second re-release was a Spanglish version featuring the popular Mexican band Caballo Dorado. Caballo Dorado helped spark a dance craze in Mexico with their own version of “Achy Breaky Heart,” titled “No Rompas Mi Corazon.”
For the 25th anniversary, Cyrus and Caballo Dorado teamed up for a Spanglish “Achy Breaky Heart,” where Cyrus sings English and the band sings in Spanish. Take a listen to that below.
For the third and final re-release, Cyrus joined forces with funk bassist, singer, songwriter Bootsy Collins to debut an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) version of his hit song. The video features footage from his original “Achy Breaky Heart” video, as well as new footage of him and Collins performing together.
