Blake & John Fight Over 16-Year-Old Singer After ‘Men And Mascara’ Audition

The Voice / YouTube

16-year-old Josie Jones stood on The Voice stage and looked at the backs of coaches Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Blake Shelton. She took a deep breath and started singing the opening lyrics to Julie Roberts’ 2006 song “Men and Mascara.”

It wasn’t long before she impressed Legend enough to get him to press his button for her. For most of the song, he was the only coach who was able to enjoy her performance with his eyes, but shortly before hitting the last note, Shelton also turned his chair around.

Clarkson complimented her vibrato and said she already had some country people on her team, which is a reason why she didn’t turn. She also saw John turn and thought he could use some country on his team.

Yeah, the King of Country right here!” Shelton said sarcastically pointing at Legend.

“Blake is my nemesis. He haunts me. Every time I think I’m doing well on this show, he comes and gets 7 people into the finale,” Legend argued, but Shelton fired back saying that Legend won last season, so he shouldn’t get any pity at all!

The fight continued…

Everybody thinks I can’t coach a country artist, but I can,” John said. “I am very familiar with many country artists, like Blake Shelton.

Shelton asked Legend to continue naming people, and all he could say was, “Blake Shelton!”

They go back and forth a couple more times before asking Josie who she will choose as her coach, but the video stops before Josie says which coach she is picking, so we’ll all have to tune in next week to see! Watch her audition below.
