Often known for siding overwhelmingly with the Republican side of politics, country music artists have grown away from traditional stereotypes, and are unafraid to make their feelings toward hot-button topics known.
Blake Shelton is one of these country stars. He has never been afraid to speak his mind, or speak out against something he believes is wrong. He’s beloved by millions of fans, and his honesty and unfiltered personality is a huge part of that.
During the 2016 race for presidency, Donald Trump has been praised for similar qualities of being open with his opinion and speaking his mind. These are points Shelton himself even acknowledges, but in this highly controversial race to be the leader of our homeland, what does he think of the candidates?
Speaking much less about Hillary Clinton, Shelton focuses his brief segment about the Presidential race on Trump, and what he says may surprise you.
“In country music, we’re so politically correct and so afraid to possibly upset someone,” he tells Billboard. “I’m not going to have the political conversation with you about Trump, or about Hillary Clinton, but I will tell you this: Whether you love him or hate him, he says what he thinks, and he has proven that you don’t always have to be so afraid.”
Shelton is right on many counts, but does this mean that he’s endorsing Trump for President? Not according to a recent tweet in which the singer refused to name his choice.

“A lot of people are pulling for him, no matter how much Hollywood fights it. I see people who don’t like him go and beat up people that do like him. You tell me, who’s crazy here?” He adds, continuing “I probably wish there was another option, but there’s not.”
It sounds like Shelton isn’t a fan of the choice he’s going to have to make come November and he’s certainly keeping tight-lipped on his official choice. It is also entirely possible that he hasn’t even decided yet – we just don’t know.
Rather than taking Shelton at his word, some celebrities have gone on the offensive to try and sway his choice, but they didn’t even speak with him directly! Instead, they approached his girlfriend about it on social media.
