Gwen Stefani recruited boyfriend Blake Shelton to join her on stage during her one-hour holiday special, You Make it Feel Like Christmas, for a performance of their festive duet featured on her Christmas album.
Prior to Shelton joining her on stage, the screen flashed to a younger Stefani declaring in a sketch, “I hate country singers. They’re really annoying.” However, from the looks of their lovey-dovey performance, she’s definitely had a change of heart. While the couple only shared a loving hug when their performance came to a close, they couldn’t keep their eyes off one another throughout the duration of the duet.
“There were probably 2,000 people, all friends and family, in the theater, and it was a really electric audience,” shared Stefani in an interview with TV Insider. “Looking at Blake and singing this song that we’d written together — which feels like such an extension of both of us — was so special.”
In addition to Shelton, the 48-year-old popstar’s three sons – Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo – also made a cameo on the Christmas special, the adorable family sharing a few of their holiday traditions with the packed audience.
Earlier this month, Shelton and Stefani reunited on the stage of The Voice to perform the Christmas tune they wrote together, the same set where they first fell in love two years ago.
In addition to “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” the 12-track album features a mix of both classic and modern Christmas songs, including “Jingle Bells,” “Let It Snow,” “My Gift Is You,” “Silent Night,” “When I Was a Little Girl,” “Last Christmas,” “Under the Christmas Lights,” “Santa Baby,” “White Christmas,” “Never Kissed Anyone with Blue Eyes” and “Christmas Eve.”
