Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani married on July 3, 2021 during an intimate ceremony held on Shelton’s property in Oklahoma. Voice host Carson Daly served as the officiant.

Daly spoke with TODAY about Shelton and Stefani’s wedding, saying it was “very, very special.” He had encouraged them both to write their own vows, which they did.

But when it came time for Shelton to say his vows, he brought out a guitar and started to sing a song he wrote. He sings her a song while he was crying, that he wrote specifically for her…not a dry eye in the house,” Daly recalled.

After the wedding, Daly told Shelton he needed to release the song. Shelton followed his advice, and now that song is available for everyone to hear.

Shelton dropped the news on Thursday (November 4) that he’d be releasing the song, titled “We Can Reach the Stars.”

Gwen and I decided we were going to write our own vows for the wedding, but I decided to surprise her by writing a song instead…” he said of the tune.

Stefani also wrote about the song’s then-pending release, saying it was the “most amazing beautiful gift…

“We Can Reach the Stars” was released in an audio clip at midnight on Friday (November 5). After the clip went live, Shelton said:

I’m really proud of #WeCanReachTheStars and I’m really honored to be with @gwenstefani. That’s why we got married in the first place. That’s why we wear rings… because we want everyone to know. I’m thrilled to share this song with the world.”

“We Can Reach the Stars” is as romantic as can be. The song traces Shelton and Stefani’s relationship from the start, and how they wished they would have met sooner.

Some of the sweetest lines are in the chorus, when Shelton sings, “I know we can reach the stars. You’ve already hung the moon.”

You can listen to “We Can Reach the Stars” below. No wonder why everyone at the wedding started crying when Shelton sang this…it tugs at the heartstrings!
