Blake Shelton Discusses The Joys And Responsibilities Of Being A Stepdad

Although Blake Shelton does not have any biological kids, after he married Gwen Stefani, he became the stepdad to three boys.

Stefani’s three sons are named Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.

Stefani and Shelton were married in 2021 but have been dating since 2015. Shelton got the opportunity to watch the boys grow up and be a part of their lives. The boys’ current ages are 18 for Kingston, 16 for Zuma, and 10 for Apollo.

In an interview with People, earlier this year, Shelton reflected on Kingston’s 18th birthday, saying it “blows his mind.”

During his interview, the singer also shared what he learned while parenting the boys as a stepdad. He said, ‘If you’re doing it right, it’s not about you anymore.’ Wise words from the country singer.

Zuma Meet Vince Gill

One thing about becoming a parent is that you are bound to have many funny stories. Shelton shared one that involved Vince Gill.

According to the story, his stepson, Zuma, was attempting to FaceTime their nanny, Vince. It was an honest mistake when he accidentally called the iconic Vince Gill, who was in Amsterdam at the time.

Hilariously, when Zuma saw Vince Gill’s face, he threw the phone and said, “There was some man that answered Vince’s phone.”

Vince Gill was very good-natured about the entire situation. When Blake Shelton first heard the phone call, Vince was laughing.

Later, Shelton texted him, and they spoke on the phone again. During that conversation, Gill confessed that he initially thought Shelton might have been drunk.

In his own words, “I thought you must have been drunk or something.”

Zuma, who just made his country music debut at Ole Red in Oklahoma on July 29, 2024, is now the biggest Vince Gill fan.

Zuma asked to FaceTime him again, to which Shelton hilariously responded, “No, never again, actually. That was humiliating for me.”
