Blake Shelton Is Getting Off The “Hamster Wheel”

Blake Shelton released a press statement before launching his new song, “Texas.” In this statement, he expressed that this phase of his life “is the perfect opportunity to come back with something so different.”

He made this remark in connection with his new song, which he credits Post Malone for inspiring.

During an interview with People, Shelton said:

“I really credit Post Malone for this new energy that I have because I was kind of just complacent and not in any hurry.”

Shelton talks about the period after he left The Voice and before releasing his new music. During that time, he did not release any solo songs; however, he collaborated on Malone’s song “Pour Me A Drink.” Shelton spoke about that time:

“Then that kid came along and asked me to sing on his song with him. It took off and was a big hit this summer, and it reminded me like, ‘Hey, get off your ass! This may be your last chance to really take a big swing at this thing.’ So here I am.”

What Is Next For Blake Shelton?

Although the singer recently released a new song, he stated that he has decided to get off the “hamster wheel” and “be very mindful” about the projects he takes on.

“The last couple of years, especially since I’ve retired from The Voice, I’ve just kind of been trying to be very mindful of the next thing that I do, be thoughtful about it and be sure that I’m not just doing things because I’m on the hamster wheel anymore.”

Shelton Continued:

“It happens, and before you know it, you go, ‘My God, where have the last 10 years gone?'”

After 23 seasons of The Voice, and a long career of musical releases, Shelton has decided to take back control of his time.

“It probably drives my manager and people that work with me crazy. I say, ‘Alright, y’all book me here to do things, but leave my Fourth of July alone.’ And when it’s fall, I don’t want to be doing stuff. That’s my time to be.”

Although the singer just released a new track and announced a new singing competition series called The Road alongside Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, Shelton said he is “living a pretty simple life.”

Shelton might not be on the “hamster wheel”  anymore, but he did say that:

“It’s always in the back of my mind: What’s something I haven’t done that’s not going to make people go, ‘What does he think he’s doing?'”

Only time will tell what is in store next for the singer and family man.
