“God Bless Country & Christian Music,” Says Brandon Lake After Hosting 25 Country Artists
“As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”
– Proverbs 27:17
Since the birth of country music, the genre has been drawing from the well of Christian music.
The hymns of old remain tried and true, with country and contemporary Christian artists alike keeping them alive, but Psalm 96 tells us we should “sing to the Lord a new song.”
On Wednesday, Jan. 21, chart-topping Christian artist Brandon Lake revealed he had hosted a songwriter’s retreat. Among those in attendance were several prominent names in country music.
“God put a dream in my heart to start loving on and encouraging those leading in the country music space, and shortly after He just started flinging wide the doors,” wrote Brandon Lake on social media. “So the other week my team and I had the honor of hosting over 25 of the best Country Music artists and songwriters along with some of my closest friends in the faith based music space.”
From out of this retreat, Brandon says that over 43 songs were written.

Last year was a significant year for Brandon Lake, with 2025 seeing his arrival within country music as well as mainstream success.
Brandon made his debut at the Opry, led worship at CMA Fest, released an album, went on tour, and was even nominated for his first CMA Award.
For 2026, he kicked the year off by releasing a reimagined version of his song “When A Cowboy Prays,” transforming the song into a duet with country artist Cody Johnson.
Now, Brandon has revealed that he hosted a songwriter’s retreat for about 25 country artists with the hope of everyone working on faith-based music.
Among those in attendance were Lainey Wilson, HARDY, Thomas Rhett, Russell Dickerson, Dan + Shay, and Bailey Zimmerman.
Brandon wrote, “I knew we’d get something special but I never would’ve thought we’d get over 43+ songs in 5 days.”
While none of these songs have been released or teased yet, in a video accompanying Brandon’s post, the words “to be continued” can be read at the end, suggesting that the music may materialize soon. At the very least, more information on the retreat will likely be shared as well.
Continuing, Brandon wrote:
“IDK what this next chapter looks like BUT I know it’s gonna be special cause it was birthed from genuine love and friendship. Praying God continues to allow me to love this community that’s blessed me so much and if He’s willing allow me to contribute a lil something of my own.”
Concluding his post, Brandon wrote, “Thank you to everyone who poured out your heart and poured into me over those special 5 days. God bless Country & Christian Music!”
In the accompanying video on Brandon’s post, everyone appears to be having a fun time, and a productive one.
Notably, Lainey Wilson can be seen singing in a recording booth.
Bailey Zimmerman can also be seen singing as Brandon Lake plays the keyboard for him.
Also in attendance were Benjamin William Hastings, known for being a member of Christian group Hillsong United; Micah Nichols, a Christian music producer; Hank Bentley, a Christian music producer; Jacob Sooter, Christian music producer; and Trannie S. Anderson, co-writer of several Lainey Wilson songs, including “Heart Like A Truck.”
