Carly Pearce Co-Hosted CMA Country Christmas With Gabby Barrett In 2021

The 2021 CMA Country Christmas special was hosted by two of country music’s brightest stars: Carly Pearce and Gabby Barrett. In addition to hosting the special, Pearce and Barrett also performed, twice!

Viewers were treated to a duet performance of the holiday classic “Sleigh Ride.” It was such a joy to watch Pearce and Barrett sing together.

Barrett and Pearce also delivered solo performances during the special. “Silent Night” was the song Barrett chose for her performance, while Pearce sang “O Holy Night.”

“O Holy Night” has been around for centuries. The words of the carol originated from a 1843 French poem by Placide Cappeau. Composer Adolphe Adam was the first to set the words to music, and did so in in 1847. John Sullivan Dwight is credited for writing the English version of the song in 1855.

Many influential artists have sung “O Holy Night” over the years, including Mariah Carey, Martina McBride, and Josh Gracin.
