Celine Dion’s Sister, Claudette, Updates Fans On Singer’s Condition Months After Sharing Stiff Person Syndrome Diagnosis
In December 2022, Celine Dion came forward with some heartbreaking news. The beloved singer announced her diagnosis with with a disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome.
The Mayo Clinic describes Stiff Person Syndrome as, “a rare disorder of motor function characterized by involuntary stiffness of axial muscles and superimposed painful muscle spasms, which are often induced by startle or emotional stimuli.”
Celine said she experiences spasms that “affect every aspect of [her] daily life.” It’s sometimes difficult for her to walk. The spasms also affect her ability to sing.

At that time, Celine made the decision to postpone her European tour. But on May 26, she announced the cancellation of her tour dates in 2023 and 2024.
“I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%. It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again. I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!”
How Is Celine Dion Doing Now? What Is The Latest Update On Her Health?
Celine’s sister, Claudette, recently spoke with Le Journal de Montreal about Celine’s condition. Claudette said their sister, Linda, has moved in with Celine to help her out.
“When I call her and she’s busy, I speak to my sister Linda who lives with her and tells me that she’s working hard” Claudette said. “She’s listening to the top researchers in the field of this rare disease as much as possible.”
Unfortunately, Claudette said they have not found a medication that that helps Celine. Because of this, she said the best thing for her is rest:
“She always goes above and beyond, she always tries to be the best and top of her game,” Claudette relayed. “At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It’s important to listen to it.”
Claudette added, “…having hope is important.”
