An Emotional Tribute
Chris Cornell left quite the legacy. The singer/songwriter was best known for his time as lead vocalist in the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. While Cornell has written numerous hits, his four-octave vocal range and powerful belting technique made him stick out above the rest. He was voted No. 9 on Rolling Stones‘ “Best Lead Singers of All Time” alongside the two Grammy’s he has been awarded.

Cornell worked on several solo pieces throughout his career including his 2011 hit, “The Keeper.” The singer wrote the song for the movie Machine Gun Preacher and it was later nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
The Keeper
During his tribute concert, country powerhouse Chris Stapleton performed a rendition of “The Keeper.”
Stapleton took the stage with Cornell’s photo beaming behind him. Stapleton played the powerful ballad by himself with just his guitar and raw vocals. His raspy voice set the tone for the song as it spoke soulful volumes.
“I cannot see the light. At the end of the tunnel tonight. My eyes are weary and before I let one more life get erased, from the ashes I will rise for you and the ghosts.” Stapleton continued through, “I am the keeper.”
The crowd went wild with emotion as Staples finished his performance.
Chris Cornell made such a powerful impact on music that will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
