The 2019 CMA Awards featured no shortage of collaborative performances, including one between a country music powerhouse and a pop superstar.
In late October, the CMA announced that Chris Stapleton and P!nk would sing together at its annual awards ceremony. The performance marks the second time P!nk has graced the stage at the CMA Awards.
Previously, P!nk was nominated for the 2017 CMA Musical Event of the Year Award for being featured on Kenny Chesney‘s “Setting the World on Fire.” That year, she also performed solo during the ceremony, and sang her song “Barbies.”
Even though the CMA did not name the song Chris and P!nk would be singing for the 2019 awards, fans knew it would be another one of her songs…”Love Me Anyway.”
“Love Me Anyway” was a track released on P!nk’s newest album, Hurts 2B Human, which dropped on April 26. Nearly a month later, she and Chris performed the duet live for the first time during P!nk’s sold-out show at Madison Square Garden.
After they finished singing, P!nk fell to the ground in a bow to recognize Stapleton and his talent.
The CMA Awards marked the first time the duo ever sang “Love Me Anyway” on live TV. So viewers got the chance to witness literal history in the making!
P!nk started off her performance solo before Stapleton joined in. The song has a naturally stripped down arrangement, which makes it perfect for live settings such as the CMA Awards.
This arrangement gave P!nk and Stapleton’s harmonies the chance to shine during their performance. We’re sure many of the audience members had goosebumps!

Oftentimes, the collaborative performances are what fans remember most when it comes to awards shows. We have a feeling that Chris and P!nk’s “Love Me Anyway” duet will stand the test of time as one such performance.
