Cody Johnson Releases 13 New Tracks in “Leather: Deluxe Edition”
A couple of months ago, Cody Johnson announced he would be releasing a deluxe version of his 2023 album Leather, featuring 13 new tracks for listeners.
Johnson officially released the deluxe version on Friday, November 1.
“It’s here!” Johnson wrote on social media.“[Leather: Deluxe Edition] is available everywhere now. I am so fortunate to be sharing my music with y’all and hope you’ll love it as much as I do.”
The original Leather album was a success for Johnson, featuring two tracks, “The Painter” and “Dirt Cheap,” that both reached number one on the country charts. So far, it looks like the deluxe version is on track for similar success, with the album’s lead song, “I’m Gonna Love You,” already scoring number 32 on the Country Airplay chart.
Johnson’s new duet “I’m Gonna Love You,” features country icon Carrie Underwood. This powerful love song tells the story of a love that will last forever.
The song, originally produced in 2019, wasn’t planned as a duet. However, when Johnson was approached with the track, he felt that it needed a female voice. In a statement, he mentioned that when it came time to find that person, he knew it had to be Carrie Underwood who joined him.

“It was a non-negotiable for me; either we sing it together, or I wouldn’t sing it at all. It’s that special to me,” Cody said. “Working with Carrie has been an absolute pleasure. She’s not only one hell of a singer, but she’s a class act all the way around. It warms my heart to work with someone who’s seen so much success in their career and they’re still so down to earth.”
