Cody Johnson fans have something to look forward to, as Johnson announced that he will be recording new music in the upcoming year.

It’s been a big year for Cody Johnson, and he shows no signs of slowing down. He released his ninth studio album, Leather in 2023, which has become one of his highest-praised projects to date.

Following the major success of his album, Johnson released the Leather Deluxe Edition. The new version included the original 12 tracks along with 13 additional songs.

Leather also won Album of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards on Wednesday, November 20.

While doing an interview on the red carpet at the CMA Awards, Johnson talked about what’s ahead for his music career in 2025. He even casually mentioned that he would be recording a brand-new album.

“In 2025, I’m going to manifest that we’re going to continue to change country music for the positive,” he said. “I’m going in the studio, recording a new album. We’re touring the UK, we’re touring in Australia, New Zealand. Big things are coming.”

Of course, Johnson’s plans for the new year are exciting, and it’s amazing to see all he’s accomplished over the years. But he credits his wife, Brandi, for everything he has been able to achieve so far.

Shortly after winning Album of the Year, Johnson gave a sweet tribute to his wife. In an interview with ExtraTV, he became emotional as he reflected on the significant impact she has had on his life.

“I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Brandi. I’m gonna try not to get emotional because I’ve been doing it all night; I’ve been holding it in. You know?”

“If it weren’t for my wife, I wouldn’t be here. I would probably be dead or in jail, and she has stood by me through so much.”
