Colt Ford Suffered a Severe Heart Attack In April Following One of His Concerts

Earlier this year, Colt Ford had just gotten off stage after performing at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row in Gilbert, Arizona, when he suffered a near-fatal heart attack on his tour bus.

The 53-year-old country artist and songwriter was quickly rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona, where he received treatment.

After his condition improved, Ford spoke out for the first time about the severity of his heart attack. He shared with his fans that he had actually died twice—once on his tour bus and again on the way to the hospital—before being revived by medical professionals. After emergency surgery, Ford had three stents placed in his heart.

Colt Ford’s condition led to the cancellation of all his scheduled concerts until the end of August, affecting 27 shows.

Ford’s heart attack came shortly after he opened up about his other health issues, including an autoimmune disease and being diagnosed with eye cancer.

In 2023, Ford revealed that he had been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, an incurable autoimmune disease that causes muscles under voluntary control to become weak and tire quickly. According to the Mayo Clinic, this condition occurs when the communication between nerves and muscles breaks down.

In 2021, Ford also shared with fans that he was undergoing surgery to remove cancer from his eye. Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and Ford recovered from the procedure quite well.

Five months after being placed in the ICU for a severe heart attack, Colt Ford defied the odds and returned to the stage for the first time.

On Friday, September 13, Colt Ford made an incredible return to the stage in Downtown Nashville. He surprised the crowd at Brantley Gilbert’s album release party for his new album Tattoos, held on Nashville’s Broadway.

Ford and Gilbert have been friends for years, and Brantley Gilbert was even by Ford’s side when he was initially rushed to the hospital back in April.

We are so happy to see Colt Ford doing well and back to performing!
