Bill Engvall has announced that he is saying goodbye to stand-up tours.
Variety officially broke the news of Engvall’s retirement ahead of the comedian’s official announcement in a live chat with fans on his Facebook page. After more than 40 years in the entertainment business as a comedian, actor, and author, Engvall will give fans one more farewell tour, “Here’s Your Sign, It’s Finally Time.”
In an interview with the outlet, Engvall justified his decision to fans. The comedian explained that he is not walking away from the industry for good; however, he wanted to prioritize family. Engvall stated:
“I have been blessed with the greatest career anyone could ask for. Making people laugh is a dream job and has fulfilled my life in so many ways. I’m excited to focus on future opportunities in entertainment and spend more time with my family. I’m not going anywhere – just hanging up my hat when it comes to sleeping in the airport and in-room dining.”
Engvall was previously a member of the Blue Collar Comedy group with Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy, and Ron White. The success of their comedy tour eventually lead to the sketch comedy show, Blue Collar TV.
The “Here’s Your Sign, It’s Finally Time” tour is slated to begin on August 26. In Fall 2021, the comedian will also host a weekly Circle TV series, Blue Collar Auction.
