He may have hits including “If You’re Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows),” “Watching You,” “These Are My People,” and “Farmer’s Daughter,” but it looks like country singer Rodney Atkins will be brushing up on another genre of songs – nursery rhymes!
Rodney and his wife, singer Rose Falcon Atkins, welcomed their first child together on Thursday (Dec. 14). Weighing in at 8 lbs., 13 oz. and measuring 20 inches long, the baby boy, who the couple named Ryder Falcon Atkins, is “by far the most precious early Christmas present ever for me, Rose and big brother Eli.”
Rodney has a 16-year-old son, Elijah, from his previous marriage to Tammy Jo McDonald.
The country singer explained how they came up with their son’s unique name, telling PEOPLE magazine, “Falcon is Rose’s maiden name, and I really wanted to honor her dad and her 96-year-old grandpa. I always loved the name Ry, and Rose came up with Ryder — Ryder Falcon!”
Rodney and Rose announced the pregnancy of the Fourth of July with a sweet Instagram post.
