On February 11, 2016, Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley and his wife, Cassie, welcomed their first child into the world. Ward Charles Kelley arrived at 9:20 in the morning, and has been the star of his parents’ lives ever since.
Charles and Cassie married in 2009, and after years of trying to have a baby with no luck they went to a fertility doctor to find out what was wrong. The news they received was heartbreaking…they had a 1% chance of conceiving naturally. After weighing their options, the couple decided they would start in vitro fertilization, but before they did, Cassie learned that she was pregnant.
Needless to say, baby Ward is Charles and Cassie’s little miracle. After trying to have a baby for so long, he has filled their lives with great joy.
Since his birth, the couple has been open with sharing photos and updates about Ward with their fans on social media. In a recent video shared by Charles, he revealed something surprising…Ward had never heard him play guitar before!
Charles knew that needed to be fixed, so he sat down with his guitar and played a little tune for his bouncing baby boy. In the caption to the adorable video, Charles wrote that Ward seemed “blown away” by the sound of the guitar, and the look on the little guy’s face proves it. Ward stared at the guitar with absolute fascination, and even cracked a small smile as he listened to the music.
Ward wasn’t the only one with a smile on his face. Once Charles turned around to face the camera, you could see that he too, was grinning from ear to ear.
